About AUSTPAC
AUSTPAC is a government relations and public-affairs consultancy. We help businesses, nonprofits, and community leaders navigate Australian policy, engage decision-makers, and shape public conversation. Our interns support live client work and thought-leadership that informs media, industry, and parliamentary stakeholders.
Role Summary
You will contribute to evidence-based research and concise policy writing developed in collaboration with leading government officials and political figures. This internship is designed to sharpen your analytical craft and produce portfolio-ready outputs that stand out on a CV.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor parliament, budgets, inquiries, and media; maintain research briefs and stakeholder maps.
Draft short policy notes, op-eds, and explainers on Australian political and economic issues.
Build and clean basic datasets (polling, fiscal measures, trade, committee work) and present findings clearly.
Prepare meeting packs (backgrounders, talking points, risk/issues logs).
Fact-check, reference, and uphold non-partisanship, confidentiality, and probity standards.
Join virtual check-ins; present insights succinctly to senior staff.

Ideal Candidate
Strong academic record and clear, precise writing.
Quantitative literacy (Excel/Google Sheets; basic stats). R/Python a plus, not required.
Sound judgement, integrity, and deadline discipline in a remote environment.
Demonstrated interest in Australian politics, public finance, and institutions.
Time Commitment
~10–12 hours per week across six weeks; remote, with core collaboration window 10:00–16:00 AET when required.
